The problem is that many college students spend too much time worrying about what to write and not enough time worrying about the essay they wish to write. There are many elements that a student must take into consideration when writing an argumentative essay, including but not limited to the following:It must be precise. Just because you want to write an argumentative essay on any subject, it does not mean you should always go for the most technical point of a topic. Students need to use their personal experience in the material they choose. Writing with their reader in mind is much more effective than trying to outsmart your reader.Point out your strengths. Using strong argumentative points may work in a small group setting, but it may not work in the context of a discussion, since the listener may not be able to relate to your vie wpoint. Therefore, instead of trying to outsmart your listener, try to know what they do not know and give them the information they are looking for. This will give your argumentative essay a better chance of success.Add content. Every college student is given a different set of expectations when it comes to sentence structure, word count, and sentence construction. You can learn how to make up your own structure to match your listener's expectations or you can buy pre-written structures designed for certain writing styles.Be concise. Make sure your argumentative essay is short, even if it is long and technical. As students progress through their college years, their need for time increases.College level students are not writers. Their writing skills are better adapted to specific research projects than an argumentative essay is. When writing an argumentative essay, a student needs to be prepared to defend his or her arguments, not just be able to answer them.College level students do not have the time to devote to an argumentative essay. When writing an argumentative essay, a student must be prepared to put his or her writing skills into action. When a student is tired or bored, their writing skills will often suffer.College level students do not understand the process of proofreading, thesis editing, or the workings of a draft. Since so many college students struggle with these skills in college, taking some college level courses in these areas may be beneficial. Regardless of the topic, students should do some type of research before they write.
